anyone, parishioner, guest or passer-by.
OUR HEALTH and WELLNESS MINISTRY is providing packets of information to
assist individuals and families with concerns about aging. There are many
resources available in our community which may be accessed to care for physical,
social and emotional needs of the elderly. The information in the packets may be
useful to you. They are available at the blood pressure table today.

GIFTED AGENCY FOR JUNE: BeConcerned is located at 714 Washington Street
in Covington.
This agency has a subsidized food program for low income families and a clothing
store, operates the Christmas Store in December and gives Easter baskets to
children in the spring. An unprecedented surge in requests for help and lagging
donations have prompted BeConcerned to stop taking new families into its food
program for the first time in at least 10 years. These are some of the items on
their “Wish List”: shampoo, toilet paper, laundry detergent, toothpaste, pork’n
beans, tuna fish, cereal, bar soap, canned fruit, canned soups, spaghetti sauce,
macaroni and cheese, large shopping bags w/handles, canned corn and good quality
used housewares. You can place your donations in the green plastic bins located
in the back/sides of church. Contact BeConcerned at 291-6789 or
beconcerned@juno.com, or visit
www.beconcerned.org.
HAWAIIAN SHIRT DAY IS JULY 12: Wear your most colorful outfit.
H.O.N.K OPPORTUNITY: Looking to get out of the house and use your
talents? We need volunteers with the desire to help lower income working
families fulfill homeownership dreams. Construction and rehab skills are a real
plus! Please visit our website at: www.honkhomes.org a nonprofit group in
Northern Kentucky. Stay active and connected by volunteering at HONK.
Note: There is no healing mass on Friday, July 3.

In Our Diocese and Area
CAST THE LIGHT OF CHRIST UPON
THE WORLD: In April 2008, Pope Benedict XVI paid his first visit to the
United States, inspiring our nation and reinvigorating our faith. In this year’s
Peter’s Pence Collection, we remember his apostolic journey and the solidarity
to which he called us. “In the finest traditions of the Church in this country,
may you also be the first friend of the poor, the homeless, the stranger, the
sick and all who suffer. Act as beacons of hope, casting the light of Christ
upon the world.” Pope Benedict XVI, homily at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York,
April 19, 2008. The Peter’s Pence Collection allows the Holy Father to respond
quickly to those who suffer as a result of oppression, natural disasters, war,
and disease. Your contribution is vital to these charitable works. In 2007, the
funds collected in the United States made up nearly one-third of all donations
worldwide. Your support truly makes a difference. You can help “Cast the Light
of Christ Upon the World” with a generous donation to your parish’s Peter’s
Pence Collection. Please visit the website at
www.usccb.org/nationalcollections for more information.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY is accepting donations for new air
conditioners and fans for the many families in need of air conditioners and
fans. We would like to ask for your support by donating a new air conditioner or
fan so we may help the many needy families that so desperately need our
assistance. Monetary donations are also accepted. If you have any questions,
please contact Yvonne, 341-3219.

entering grades 3, 4 and 5 in the fall on July 13–July 17 and July 20-24, 8:30
am–noon. Locations vary. Participants will have fun doing age-appropriate
hands-on activities while learning skills for making new friends, controlling
moods, dealing with bullying and feeling better about themselves. Catholic
Charities will also have a program titled Teen Talk. This program empowers young
ladies to survive the middle school (7th and 8th) drama in today’s fast-paced
world. These are small groups with adult female counselors, June 29 and 30 or
July 28 and 29. For more information, contact Shannon Braun at 581-8974, ext.
