Film about st. carlo acutis to benefit teens

On April 27, the first Millennial saint, Carlo Acutis, will be canonized in Rome. That same day, a movie about his life will be shown in theaters nationwide, entitled Carlos Acutis: Roadmap to Reality.

Carlos Acutis was born on May 3, 1991, in London, England, to Andrea Acutis and Antonia Salzano, both members of wealthy Italian families. Throughout his short life, he had a deep Catholic faith and inspired others to be baptized.

Known as a computer geek, he recognized the potential of technology and social media as a powerful tool for evangelization, especially to young people. He was adept at programming languages and designed a web site to document Eucharistic miracles and approved Marian apparitions.

On Oct. 2, 2006, at the age of 15, he developed an inflammation of the throat. Doctors at first thought it was a minor ailment, but a week later, he had grown so weak that he was hospitalized and diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia. He fell into a coma and died on Oct. 12.

Since then, two miracles have been attributed to Acutis, and on Oct. 12, 2012, the Archdiocese of Milan opened the cause for canonization.

For three days, the movie about Acutis' life will be shown in 945 theaters across the United States: April 27-29. Once the first 5,000 tickets are sold, the film has been guaranteed an additional three days in theaters. Locations and advance ticket sales are now available.

All proceeds of this film will greatly benefit causes for the youth, the further spread of the message of St. Carlo, and to help fund future National Eucharistic Congresses.
