this week's feasts
Sts. Timothy and Titus

St. Paul writes epistles to both Timothy and Titus. Each was a Christian leader chosen and trained by Paul, who he then left in charge of churches that he had founded. The Church thinks of them as young bishops, whom Paul is addressing about various issues and problems that they are facing.
The feast of Sts. Timothy and Titus is this Monday, Jan. 26.

St. Thomas Aquinas
The feast of St. Thomas Aquinas is Wednesday, Jan. 28. He is the most consequential writer and thinker in the history of the Church. Only St. Augustine comes close.
For years the writings of Aristotle, the greatest of all philosophers, had been lost. There were rediscovered in the 14th century, and Aquinas developed his theology on Aristotle’s writings. Up until then, most theologians used the philosophy of Plato in order to do their work.
Aquinas’ most famous work is his Summa Theologica (Summary of Theology) which he did not complete but is the most influential work of theology is the Church’s canon.
