On Tuesday, Aug. 11, the Church honors St. Clare of Assisi. She was the companion of St. Francis, and was the founder of the Poor Clares, the female dimension of the Franciscan Order. She lived in the convent at the Church of San Damiano, where the Crucifix came to life, and Jesus spoke to Francis, telling him to go and to rebuild His Church which was falling down.

Clare is the patron saint of televisions and computers.

St. Maximilian Kolbe was a Franciscan priest, famous for founding a Catholic newspaper that serviced over a million people in Poland. He was arrested by the Nazis and sent to Auschwitz. When a man who was a husband and father was sentenced to death, Max volunteered to die in his place.
    
When Max was canonized by Pope John Paul II, this man was there in the crowd. His feast day is Aug. 14 because of his great love for the Blessed Virgin Mary.
