welcome, hannah harris!

Sunday, March 22, was a joyful day for Hannah Harris, her husband, Jay, and the Mother of God community as she was received into the Catholic Church at the 11:30 pm Mass.

Born in Germany, Hannah was baptized and raised in the Lutheran faith. And though she and Jay have been members of Mother of God for 26 years, it took some time for her to discern that she wanted to convert.

Fr. Mike Comer called her forward after the homily and administered the Sacrament of Confirmation, which was followed by enthusiastic applause. Later in the Mass, Deacon Brian Cox gave her the Eucharist and the Precious Blood for the first time.

As the last notes of the recessional song rang out, parishioners gathered around Hannah to welcome and congratulate her. These photos by David Ziser beautifully capture the excitement of the day.
