Hawaiian shirt sunday is coming!

You may have thought you missed it, since it falls later this year, but Mother of God will again celebrate Hawaiian Shirt Sunday on July 27.
Legend has it that Hawaiian Shirt Day came to be during Fr. Ray Hartman's time as pastor. Parishioners quickly embraced the idea and soon established it as a tradition. And, of course, we are passionate about our traditions.
So, pull out your wildest, brightest, tropical-themed garments and wear them to Mass that day. Don't have any? There's still time to shop. If you're feeling especially festive, add a floral or shell lei. The goal is to embody the spirit of joy that comes with worshipping God and delight in the beauty of God's creation. It's also simply a lot of fun. And Mother of God shines in all those categories.
