jesus is the way

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells His disciples that He is going away and will prepare a place for them and then return to take them with Him. He tells them that they know the way to where He is going. Thomas, on behalf of all of them, says, “Master, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?”
Jesus’ response to this is, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
This is a truly powerful statement. In the Gospel for today, Jesus refers to Himself as the “sheep gate,” the gate to the area where shepherds would keep the sheep when they were not out on the mountain side. It is an image of the Kingdom of God. Jesus is the gate. The way into the Kingdom is through Jesus.
Because of that, Jesus wants the entire world to know about Him and to come to Him so that He can lead them into the heart of the Father.
