This Friday we celebrate Independence Day, the Fourth of July. Next year we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of the United States of America.
    
I find it fascinating that we celebrate the birth of this nation on the day that we declared ourselves to be independent rather on the day that the Revolutionary War was won. There is a very important principle in this—a people are free when they decide that they are free.
