we honor those who gave all

On Monday, May 25, our nation celebrates Memorial Day, when we honor all the fallen dead veterans of our nation’s wars and pray for permanent peace. Far too many men and women have died in our nation’s wars, both on our side and the side of whom we were fighting. When Pope Paul VI spoke to the United Nations during his visit to the United States, he cried out, “No more war! War never again!”

The greatest way we can honor those who have died in our country’s many wars is to dedicate ourselves to be peace makers, as Jesus called us to be.

In the midst of the picnics, parades and other celebrations, stop to remember and pray for those who have given their lives for the sake of peace.
