crowd turns out for ministry fair

“Seek and you shall find.”

That bit of Scripture was especially true for those who participated in last Sunday’s Ministry Fair after the 9:30 and 11:30 am Masses in the church undercroft. More than 20 ministries at Mother of God, plus several external partner agencies, e.g., BeConcerned, The Emergency Shelter of Northern KY, and Parish Kitchen, were on hand to provide information and sign up volunteers to help with their missions. Likewise, those who were seeking ways to get more involved in the parish found lots of options to choose from.

The downstairs hall was buzzing with conversations at each of the ministry booths, and there was plenty of good food and drink to enjoy throughout the event.

“We were very pleased with the turnout,” said Mary Ann Kelly, pastoral assistant. “Just one example—we had about 20 to 25 people sign up to help out with the street fair in September.”

The Ministry Fair promoted Mother of God’s With One Heart priority to increase engagement in our parish community by building awareness of all the opportunities there are to get involved.

Staff and ministry leaders are in the process of collating the volunteer lists and will be contacting people in the next couple of weeks.

“I want to thank everyone who put this Ministry Fair together, as well as those who attended it,” said Fr. Mike Comer. “There was a great energy in the room and a lot of enthusiasm for being part of Mother of God.”
