Ukrainian catholics need our prayers

A member of the parish recommended that I check out a video entitled, No Priests Left on YouTube. I want to recommend it to you to check out for yourself. It is only 15 minutes long.

No Priests Left tells the story of the persecution of Ukrainian Catholics in the occupied territories of that tragic nation by the Russian army. Catholics in Ukraine have faced great persecution for hundreds of years, most recently during the reign of the Soviet Empire. When the Soviet Empire fell, the Ukrainians experienced a period of freedom and tolerance for over 40 years. Then came the invasion by the Russians in February 2022.

In those territories which are occupied by the Russians, the Catholic Church has been shut down, with over 100 churches being closed and all priests being deported. There are no priests serving in those areas, as those who were serving underground have been arrested and deported.

These are our Catholic brothers and sisters, and they need our prayers and support. Let us also not be naïve about Putin and the Russian government.
