OCIa group thrives at mog

The pews are fuller than ever at Mother of God Church these days, and the number of people participating in the Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) is at a record high in the time that Fr. Mike Comer has been our pastor. This is exciting news.

At the national level, Mass attendance is finally returning to normal levels after the COVID pandemic. Still, attendance at Mass averages only 24.4% overall, according to the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University.

But at Mother of God, we are committed to buck that trend by increasing opportunities for and engagement in faith formation and fellowship to build up the Body of Christ, as part of the With One Heart initiative. The increase of our OCIA class size is a positive step toward achieving these goals.

In the days leading up to Holy Week and the Easter Vigil, you will see more of our catechumens and candidates. Please support them with your prayers and by welcoming them at Mass and other parish events.
