oktoberfest—the best and wurst of times
Mother of God parish celebrated its German heritage on Sunday, Oct. 26, with its annual Oktoberfest after the 11:30 am Mass. Those who attended dined on bratwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels with beer cheese, German potato salad and Bavarian cream puffs, accompanied by beer, wine, lemonade or iced tea. The Ein Stein German Band provided great music to keep the crowd swinging and swaying, and no celebration would be complete without the iconic chicken dance. Many guests wore dirndls and lederhosen to get into the spirit.
