organ concert hits the high notes
On Sunday, June 8, those who attended "An Afternoon of Organ Music" were treated to a feast for the ears and the soul. Meg Booker and Noah Jacobsen performed classical pieces and hymns on Mother of God's Koehnken & Grimm organ.
Meg is the organist at the 9:30 am Sunday Mass and recent graduate of Northern Kentucky University. Noah is also a recent graduate of NKU and a frequent collaborator with Meg. He is the organist at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church.
The two of them recently performed the newly composed Russian song cycle Beloved by Dr. Kurt Sander at the inaugural Skald Festival at NKU. In 2024, they curated and performed a solo recital featuring the world premier of a commissioned song cycle entitled Two Sara Teasdale Songs.
Meg has a bachelor's degree in vocal performance and has won prizes in multiple international competitions, including First Prize in the New York International Music Competition, an Honorable Mention in the Hal Leonard Vocal Competition, and an Encouragement Award in the Matinee Musicale Scholarship Competition.
Noah holds a bachelor's degree in piano performance and pedagogy. He has performed at the Kentucky Music Teachers Association and the Northern Kentucky winter pedagogy conference. He teaches private lessons and hopes to inspire his students to become both better musicians and people.
Meg and Noah plan to host a concert series to connect with the community and cultivate an appreciation for classical music.
