palm sunday in pictures
The weather cooperated on April 13, so that our celebration of Palm Sunday could begin outside on the front steps of Mother of God Church. Fr. Mike Comer blessed the palms, and Deacon Brian Cox read a proclamation of Jesus' triumphal entry into the city of Jerusalem—a lead-up to His passion and death on the cross. To commemorate that event, parishioners and guests processed into church, singing and carrying palm branches.
The mood of the liturgy quickly went from exultation to solemnity and grief as the concelebrants and lectors read the Gospel account of the fulfillment of Jesus' mission to suffer, die and redeem us from our sins.
