jewish passover begins

Like Easter for Christians, the Jewish Passover moves around a bit each year. This year the Jewish Passover begins this Saturday, April 12. It will conclude on Sunday, April 20. This is the most sacred time in the Jewish calendar, when they celebrate the salvation that God won for them when He brought them out of slavery in Egypt through the Sinai Desert and settled them in the Promised Land.
For us Christians, this is an important feast, though we calculate it somewhat differently, for it was during the week of Passover that Jesus suffered His Passion and rose from the dead on Easter Sunday. The Passover Meal (the Seder) was the setting for Jesus to establish the Eucharist, as Jesus is our Passover Lamb who is slain for our salvation.
Let us keep our Jewish brothers and sisters in our prayers as they begin this great feast.
