parish picnic was a time to savor
The blazing August heat kept some people away, but those who braved it were rewarded with great food and fellowship at the annual parish picnic. There was plenty of shade surrounding the Adams Shelter at Presidents Park in Edgewood, and the adjacent playground kept the kids busy.
The parish provided soft drinks, water and pans of golden fried chicken, while attendees brought appetizers, side dishes and desserts to share. No one went away hungry.
A highlight of the picnic was the annual photo contest. With a record number of entries (nearly 140), the competition was strong for more than $1,600 in prizes. Look for a complete list of the winners in next Sunday's bulletin. Thanks to David Ziser for capturing shots of the fun.
