October is Respect Life Month, and this first Sunday of October is Respect Life Sunday. On this Sunday, we recall the terrible crime of abortion that has taken the lives of about 65 million children since abortion was made legal through the Supreme Court decision Roe v Wade. Just try to wrap your head around that figure—65 million!

The month of October is also the month of the Holy Rosary. It is a month during which we are encouraged to pray the rosary if we are not already doing so, and to pray it with more attention and devotion if we are already doing so. I am a strong proponent of the rosary, so I certainly encourage you to do this.

There are many videos on YouTube on the rosary. I often use these when I am driving, listening to someone lead the prayers of the rosary, while I respond while I am driving. Also, if I am having trouble sleeping, I will turn it on and listen to it as I try to fall asleep. It usually works.

There are many variations to use, but I usually use the ones by Bishop Robert Barron or Fr. Michael Schmitz.
