still making adjustments to sound system

The importance of a good sound system can’t be overstated, especially when it comes to celebrating the liturgy of the Mass. It is vital that the congregation is able to hear and understand the Word of God in scripture and the prayers over the gifts as bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ. Likewise, it is critical as a vehicle for an effective and prayerful music ministry.

The recent repair of the Meyer speakers on either side of the sanctuary ensures that we will continue to have the highest quality sound at Mother of God, which is an acoustically challenging space.
Because the speakers were not operating at full capacity prior to the repair, what you are hearing now may sound different than what you heard previously.

Some of you who were seated in the front pews have commented that it was hard to understand the spoken word this past Sunday. We are working on adjusting the equalization (mixing the right amount of high frequency, mid and bass tones) to improve intelligibility. Please be patient as we fine-tune the speakers.

If you wear hearing aids, you may also consider downloading the Listen Everywhere app on your smartphone. The app operates with your Android or iPhone, using Wi-Fi technology. Here’s how to get it:

  • Go to Google Play or the Apple Store and download the “Listen Everywhere” mobile app.
  • Open your phone settings and join the Wi-Fi network “MOG Listen.”
  • Open the Listen Everywhere app and choose “MOG Listen.”
  • Select the channel and you’re ready to go.

The system is accessible anywhere inside the church and is available 24/7. Sound is transmitted through your hearing aids or earbuds.
