lightning damages electrical systems

It was quite the week at Mother of God.

On Tuesday, Nov. 18, at approximately 11:15 am, lightning struck the church. Witnesses who were in the building for Eucharistic Adoration and confession described the event, saying the inside of the dome lit up, then everything went dark, followed by a deafening BOOM!

The power surge set off the fire alarm, damaged components of the sound system and caused the phone system and internet to go down in the parish office. Our ability to livestream Mass and Fr. Comer's talks was also affected. As a result, the Thursday installment on the life of St. Peter was canceled and will resume Dec. 4 at 10:30 am and 6:30 pm in church.

Sound System Status

Ovation Audiovisual was onsite Tuesday afternoon to assess the damage to the sound system. On Friday, they returned to install a temporary system that will be in place until they can make the necessary repairs. We don't yet have a timeline on when things will be back up and running. Meanwhile, please bear with us as we make the best of the situation.
