pope declares jubilee of st. francis of assisi

Pope Leo XIV has declared a Jubilee of St. Francis of Assisi, as we celebrate the 800th anniversary of the year of his death. Saints are usually celebrated on the day of their death, as that is the day on which they entered into Heaven, actually becoming saints. Francis died on Oct 4, 1226. The Jubilee began on Jan. 10, 2026, and will end on Jan. 10, 2027.
As part of our celebrations of St. Francis, I will do a series of six talks on Francis during Lent. As usual, the talks will be at 10:30 am and 6:30 pm on Thursdays, beginning on Feb. 19, the day after Ash Wednesday.
I will provide more info next week in the bulletin.
