friendly sons of st. patrick delight audience
The lilt of Irish laughter rippled through Mother of God Church, punctuated with rousing applause on Friday, March 6, when the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Glee Club performed in concert. The event has become an annual tradition every March.
The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick was founded in 1913 in New York City with 23 singers. The group thrived and shared their love of Irish music and culture over the years. In 1984, an offshoot of the glee club was established in Cincinnati. The Cincinnati chapter grew to be 40+ members strong, marching in every St. Patrick's Day parade, and holding concerts throughout the city. In 1992, they performed in a sold-out concert at Memorial Hall that was broadcast on PBS.
They are naturally busiest during the month of March, but you can hear them year 'round at various events and venues, including "wakes and weddings." Check out our gallery of photos below.
