prayer team marks 1-year anniversary

The Prayer Team at a luncheon earlier this year.
Pope John Paul II said that Christian communities should be "schools" of prayer, where people express their meeting with Christ through prayer, praise, and devotion.

We strive to make our Mother of God Community this very kind of school through solemn and beautiful worship, and by providing opportunities for personal prayer.

Our Prayer Team is one of these opportunities, and on Tuesday, Dec. 10, we will celebrate our one-year anniversary! In the past year, this team has grown from eight members to almost 40!

The primary ministry of our team is to pray over the prayer intentions that are submitted to our parish on a weekly basis. These come in the form of online prayer requests, those that are included in our Parish Book of Intentions, for the individuals listed in our Remember in Prayer list in the bulletin, as well as other relevant intentions. Though our prayer is offered individually, as it fits into each of our lives, we have gathered on occasion to pray, send cards, to volunteer (as many did for the Day of Prayer and Reflection), and in fellowship. We will be gathering on Tuesday, our anniversary, for Mass and a potluck luncheon celebration.
