Get to know cindy duesing
I and my sister, Connie Krebs, have been members of the Contemporary Ensemble since 1974, providing music for Sunday Mass, weddings, funerals and other celebrations. In 1991, I became director of the Ensemble, and it’s been my privilege to serve in that capacity ever since.
Music was a big part of my life growing up. My two sisters and I spent hours singing and playing guitars together in grade school and high school. When Connie and I started playing guitar masses at our home parish, St. Francis de Sales in Newport, we scandalized some folks, but others welcomed the change.
Through the years, I have written liturgical music, some of which was published through Resource Publications, Inc. in 1985. Members of the Ensemble can be heard on that recording, called Spirit, Come Forth. Other members of the Ensemble also compose music that we sing here at Mass on Sundays.
The people of Mother of God have been incredibly supportive of our music ministry, and it means so much to participate in important moments of their lives. It’s great fun to play and pray with a group of wonderfully talented musicians who continue to teach me more than I could learn in any classroom. And I especially love that I get to share my love of music with my daughter, Lisa, and my son, Aaron, who have been part of the group for many years now.
