this week's feasts
St. Barnabas
On Tuesday, June 11, we celebrate St. Barnabas. He was not one of the original Twelve, but in the Acts of the Apostles he is referred to as an Apostle. No one knows why. We can only speculate. Like the other Apostles, except for John, Barnabas died a martyr’s death.

St. Anthony of Padua

St. Anthony was born is Lisbon, Spain, in 1195 AD, and died in Padua, Italy in 1231 AD. He was known as a great preacher and teacher of the faith and for his dedication to service of the poor. He was one of the early Franciscans.
We have a statue of St. Anthony in Mother of God Church. It is on the far left in the sanctuary.
Anthony’s feast day is June 13, this Thursday.
