meet meg booker

Mother of God welcomed a new organist and vocalist at the 9:30 am Mass last Sunday. Meg Booker is a vocal performance major who is finishing up her senior year at Northern Kentucky University. A native of Louisville, KY, she was raised Catholic and began singing in church at age 10.
“My parents weren’t musicians, but they wanted to cultivate a love of music in my brother, sister and me,” she says. “I sang in choirs throughout elementary and high school and started taking voice lessons from early on, so I am classically trained. Music has always been an important part of my life.”
Meg moved to Northern Kentucky for college and says she loves the area. She is grateful for all the teachers who have mentored her along the way, including Katie Barton, who began giving her organ lessons last January. She is especially excited to be ministering at Mother of God.
“The church is so beautiful, and the people I’ve met so far have been very kind and welcoming,” she says.
When she’s not working on her studies or devoting her time to music ministry, she enjoys crafting—creating handmade cards and gifts. Turns out, she’s good at that too. She recently won a blue ribbon at the Kentucky State Fair for her calligraphy.
After graduation from NKU, Meg will be attending graduate school. She hopes to make her career in arts administration or performance.
“I try to live my life with the doors wide open,” she says. “I believe that’s God’s way of showing me where I need to go.”
