pray the rosary

In this month of the Holy Rosary, I want to encourage all of us to pray the rosary every day. This is what Mary has asked us to do. This is no “rule” of our faith. No one is sinning if they fail to pray the rosary every day, but we will be greatly blessed if we do so. I know that this can be difficult for some of us. Even some of the saints struggled with praying the rosary. St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus, would often fall asleep when praying the rosary. Other people, who have attention difficulties (like your pastor) may find focusing on the Mysteries and prayers of the rosary to be very challenging.
My recommendation is to perhaps break the Rosary up into parts of the day. Say one decade while you are preparing for work, or even before you get out of bed. Say another decade as you drive to work. If you can get a five-minute break in your day, say a third decade. Pray a decade on the way home, and a fifth decade before you go to sleep. You have prayed an entire rosary that day.
If you are trying to introduce the rosary in the family and have small children, praying a full rosary may not be a positive experience for anyone. You can, perhaps, pray one decade of the rosary each day with the family, beginning with the First Glorious Mystery on Monday, and then move to the next the following day. It can be part of your pre- or post-meal prayer. This introduces the kids to the rosary and to the Mysteries of the Rosary, and hopefully, when they get older, they may make praying the rosary a part of their daily life.
If you or your family struggle that is alright. Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly. Gradually you will get better.
