not to be koi, but what's happening in front of church?

What is happening in front of church? Jokingly, Fr. Comer has been telling people that we are installing a koi pond, but that is obviously not what is going on.
Mother of God Church is over 150 years old, and from time to time, there are some things that need to be repaired or replaced. The one level of the front porch of the church has been settling for some time now. That has caused pooling of water, which in the winter becomes a serious problem, because of icing. We have learned that the materials under the tile have settled and deteriorated over the years and must be replaced in order to repair the top layer itself. There are no plans to do any repairs to the steps or to the top level, which has a more elaborate mosaic pattern.
It is safe to walk on the wooden bridge covering the hole that is there.
