virtus update

Thank you to all who volunteer at Mother of God on a regular basis and for keeping current with your Virtus certification. You help to make our parish a healthier and more positive environment by doing so. There are a couple of updates that I would like everyone to be aware of so that there are no surprises.
First, it is mandated by the Safe Environment office in the diocese that every location at which one volunteers must carry a set of updated paperwork for each volunteer. This may feel like things are being duplicated, but it helps each parish to keep track in a more efficient way.
In addition, the diocesan VIRTUS coordinators are able and will begin to suspend individuals who are two or more bulletins behind, so please stay current on your bulletins and modules as we are not supposed to be serving in our ministries if we are suspended.
If you are not familiar with the VIRTUS program, it is the program that the Diocese of Covington uses to build a safe environment within each parish and school. If you would like to read more about it, please visit virtusonline.org. If you need to become VIRTUS trained, please email Mary Ann Kelly (mkelly@mogcov.org) or call her at the parish office. She will help you with the process.
