We Rely on Divine Mercy

April 12, 2026

This Second Sunday of Easter is Divine Mercy Sunday. Jesus Himself requested that this date be set aside as Divine Mercy Sunday. Pope John Paul II designated, during the millennial celebrations of 2000 AD, that this feast was to be added to the universal Church calendar.

Jesus promised that on that Sunday, for those who participated in the prayers and services, there would be available an “ocean of mercy.” Along with the regular Chaplet of Mercy, which can be prayed at any time throughout the year, a novena of Divine Mercy could be said from Good Friday to Divine Mercy Sunday, in preparation for the feast.

Divine Mercy Church in Bellevue and the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption will be holding special Divine Mercy services. From noon until 3 pm, there will be Eucharistic Adoration and confessions available, and at 3 pm, both parishes will have special prayers, including Benediction.

I encourage you to take part in these services.
Fr. Mike Comer
