The Holy Spirit Is Real

There are many titles that are given to the Holy Spirit. He is the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity. He is the Soul of the Church. The Spirit is the life-breath of the Church. These are just a few of His titles. But despite these, the Holy Spirit is the anonymous member of the Trinity.

The Spirit came to those in the Upper Room in the form of a strong driving wind and as tongues of flame. We first met the Spirit at Jesus’ baptism. These are not images that we can easily relate to as a “Person,” whereas it is much easier to relate to the Father and the Son. The Spirit, which means “wind” or “breath” in Aramaic (Ruah), must be seen in these images.
