Jesus Will Be Victorious

Nov. 17, 2024

In these last two Sundays, the Church’s attention is focused on the Second Coming of Christ. Next Sunday, Nov. 24, is the last Sunday of the Church year and is celebrated as Christ the King, when He will be victorious over sin and death and will establish His Kingdom in its fullness.

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus describes His Second Coming with these words: “In those days after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give off its light, and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds, with great power and glory, and then He will send out the angels to gather His elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky.”

The world as we know it will come to an end. And in its place will come the victory of Christ. In the Book of Revelation, we hear of a New Jerusalem and a New Earth, when all is made new.
