Our God Is a Loving God
March 10, 2024
It deeply saddens me when so many people in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and in other conversations indicate that they believe in a God who is angry and vengeful and who is just looking for a reason to condemn His children. There certainly is accountability for sin, but the last thing God wants to do is to condemn us.
The Gospel for this Sunday contains one of the most famous passages in the New Testament, John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life.” He went on to say, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
It is the Evil One, the Enemy, who has convinced so many that God is out to get them, so He can send His children to Hell. If that were true, God would be a monster. We can obey a God like that, but we could never love a God like that.
Come to Christ and ask for His saving, healing graces and allow Him to reconcile you to God and to His Church.
