Do You Not Yet Have Faith?
June 23, 2024
In this week’s Gospel we see the Apostles and Jesus in a boat crossing the Sea of Galilee. Jesus is sleeping, as a squall blew up, and the waves were threatening to sink the boat. Panicking, the Apostles woke Jesus, and asked Him, “Don’t you care that we are going to drown?” Many of us have said that same prayer to God, “Don’t you care?” Jesus challenged them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?”
If the Apostles experienced struggles with faith, then we can probably count on struggling as well. It is only when our faith is tested that we find out how strong or how weak our faith is. Don’t wait until the crisis is upon you. Through prayer and other spiritual exercises, strengthen your faith, making it ready for whatever may come your way.
